Of the many types of possums one of the cutest however is a species called Golden Brushtails. They are genetic mutations of the common brushtail  and get this rare color from their low levels of melanin. Sadly with bright gold fur it is hard to hide in among leaves and trees so  these little guys are scarce to be sighted in the wild. While Comman Brushtails are found all throughout Australia and even New Zealand, the golden  brushtails have only ever been found in the forests of Tasmania and South of Sydney, there they nest in  cavities of buildings or  hollow trees.

The size of a Brushtail is around that of a domestic house cat, they are rather fuzzy and plump, though they also have sharp claws   and teeth. They eat mostly from the ecualyptic tree eating the leaves, blossoms, and fruits.

Brushtails can also be kept as pets, though it is rather rare. Their diet consists  of food such as of apples, bananas, carrots, figs, grapes, kiwi, spinach, oranges, rock melons, water melons, uncooked sweet potatoes, uncooked corn, and, (since they are omnivores) also  minced meat, chicken, and dog  food.
